Meh

Picked up the car last night with it’s shiny new bumper on. Looked OK last night and when I went to the car this morning, but being December it’s kind of dark at 5pm and 7.45am. I got to work and looked at it and the colour isn’t right. It’s too dark. You can only tell where the bumper meets the rest of the body work and on the Focus that’s just round the sides by the front wings. Looking at it straight on is OK. Unfortunately though, I did notice it and it’s kind of ruined my day before it’s even had chance to start. I think it’s because of who did it for me. They’re really good in doing me the odd favour when I need it and I just don’t fancy going back and saying that the colour isn’t right. If it was Ford that had done it then I wouldn’t have a problem taking it back and asking them to do it again, but unfortunately it’s not Ford. Part of me is wishing that, with hindsight, I’d taken it to them to start with and paid a bit more for the right to whinge and not feel guilty if it wasn’t done right. Another part of me is thinking that maybe it’s part of the punishment for needing it in the first place – a slice of Karma provided by some random paint distributor. Unfortunately it’s not a subject I know much about – car paint. Does it fade? Is the colour different depending on what can you use? I doubt you can ever get an exact match but at what stage can you reasonably say “No, I think it can be a closer match than that”? Now I’m kind of sat here sulking struggling to find the motivation to do anything at all, let alone something constructive. I only normally sulk when I’m annoyed with myself cause it stops me taking it out on someone else, but this is sulking cause the mess I thought would be fixed isn’t and now I have to do more stuff I don’t want to. Crap…
