Write a letter to your 14-year-old self. Tomorrow, write a letter to yourself in 20 years.
Dear Michael,
Now don’t freak out, but this is 32 year old you. I don’t know how it works either but let’s run with it.
So… Don’t worry about your GCSEs too much – no-one really cares. Maybe have a hard think about your A-Levels though cause you’ll probably suck at those so either do them properly or do something else.
Beware of girls who like monosyllabic names, especially “Lee”. Your name will always have too many syllables however you split it.
Don’t try to catch cricket balls with your mouth and when your PE teacher says not to get injured, try not to even if breaking your collar bone is a good excuse to not do homework.
That’ll do for now. Speak to you in 6 years.
PS. This song’ll be quite big:
And it seems to me you lived your life
Like a candle in the wind
Never fading with the sunset
When the rain set in
Candle in the Wind by Elton John
Someone would actually try to catch cricket balls with his teeth? Good thing he has you to advise him, Michael! http://judydykstrabrown.com/2015/08/06/at-fourteen/
It wasn’t necessarily a per-meditated attempt!
Ahaha, loved it!! Do you think your old self would have listened to you? 😀
If 14 year old me is anything like 32 year old me, he would have listened and heard but wouldn’t necessarily have taken the advice!
