The Power of Touch

Textures are everywhere: The rough edges of a stone wall. The smooth innocence of a baby’s cheek. The sense of touch brings back memories for us. What texture is particularly evocative to you?

*blushes* Umm… Someone else’s skin. Ignoring some of the parts of that, just simple things like holding hands, an arm around the shoulder, a consolation hand on the back or a hug can mean more than they appear. Hugs are good.

The other thing I thought of when I read this prompt was about touchscreens and how smooth glass is going to be one of the most touched surfaces for generations to come. For something so widely used and that can be so pure in appearance, such a plain has a nontactility that seems unbefitting of what it is capable of.

And with that, Moo seems to be enjoying being tickled under his chin…

Don’t you wanna come with me? Don’t you wanna feel my bones
on your bones?
It’s only natural.
Don’t you wanna swim with me? Don’t you wanna feel my skin
on your skin?
It’s only natural.

I never had a lover,
I never had soul,
And I never had a good time.
I never got gold.
