I’m not so sure my dream purchase would be keeping up with the Jones’, but pretty much blowing them out the water!
Aston Martin DB4GT/0182/R ‘1VEV’ would be my luxury item. She is one of the most famous cars in Aston Martin’s racing history. She had to retire from Le Mans in 1961 but came back with a minor win in a Ferrari-less British GP. Her greatest victory was at the 1961 Tourist Trophy where she ate tyres to beat a Ferrari 250GT by three seconds.
But, more importantly, I think she is the most beautiful sports car ever built. She is in a typical racing green with the white circles for her race numbers on her bonnet, sides, and boot lid. She has the DNA of all Aston Martins, easily visible in the grille and shape of the front lights.
But what makes her as beautiful as she is and sets her apart from the standard DB4 is the curves and bubbles associated with Italian coach builder Zagato of Milan, where she was designed by Ercole Spada. She has an aggressive bonnet, flared arches and two bubbles her roof.
Somehow I’m finding it staggeringly difficult to describe her. Words can’t do justice!

You’re beautiful. You’re beautiful.
You’re beautiful, it’s true.
I saw your face in a crowded place,
And I don’t know what to do,
‘Cause I’ll never be with you.
