Second Time Around

Tell us about a book you can read again and again without getting bored — what is it that speaks to you?

A book I can read again and again, eh?! I probably haven’t done this since I was a kid, seeing as it takes me so long to read them first time round! I guess a recipe book doesn’t count?! Or catalogues?! No? OK then…

There’s been quite a few books I’ve really enjoyed but, unlike films, I can’t really go back to them. Books, as I’ve previously alluded to above and previously in this blog, are a real time commitment for me. I’m not one of these people who takes 10 books on holiday or needs a Kindle. With a film, I can put it on and be done in a couple of hours and I do watch films repeatedly.

I suppose similar principles apply to both books and films. People can get hooked on the characters or the dialogue despite knowing what the end of the story holds. I’ll sometimes, from films, also pick up little things that I haven’t noticed first time and I suppose that would be easier in a book for most people who can read quickly, rather than me who reads at talking pace and probably takes it all in anyway!

I promise it won’t get broken
We’ll never forget this moment
It will stay brand new
‘Cause I’ll love you
Over and over again
