A few years ago I did the “eat to live” thing. I wanted to put on weight, so I bought a bench, a bar and a rack and started using them. I got some reasonable functional benefits but wanted to put some weight on so started eating more. At one stage I tried for 4000 clean calories a day. This last just over a week when I started to feel ill and was always really hot from the fact my metabolism was in overdrive.
I do need to get back in shape but I have a lack of appetite at the moment which isn’t helping.
Food is something I really do like. I love trying new places. When I travelled a lot we obviously got to do this, walking round town and just finding a random restaurant to try. More recently I’ve really enjoyed finding new places in Didsbury, Altrincham, Manchester and in Manchester’s Northern Quarter. It’s easy enough to find a place nowadays that just heats up food, so it’s always a pleasure to find somewhere that takes some care to cook food from scratch or even just home bake a cake.
My perfect day would revolve around food – going out for breakfast somewhere with good coffee and pancakes, a light lunch and then out for a really good pub food dinner. In between there would be going for a walk, running errands, going for a drink or to the cinema or pottering round some shops. I would quite happily do that every day!
Fumbling his confidence
And wondering why the world has passed him by
Hoping that he’s meant for more than arguments
And failed attempts to fly
