Less Is More

Everyone has their favourite scent.  As much as I keep trying different fragrances, I always come back to my favourite Thierry Mugler.  I also seem to have a thing for Chloe, but not me wearing it!

I’m not sure what it was an old manager of mine used to wear, but he would sometimes overdo it.  I remember when we were working in Holland one week and needed to get the train to the office.  I’m one of these people who likes to get airports and stations early, but aforementioned boss was the opposite.  He didn’t want to have to wait anywhere for his transport to start moving.

I was sat on the train at Utrecht station and there was no sign of my manager.  Then I could smell something, and he came and parked himself on the seat opposite.  That day he appeared to have developed a cold and I can only guess that he didn’t realise how much oh-of-toilet he had applied.

In such instances, sometimes less is more.

Normally having lots of something is a good thing, especially when it comes to options and choices.  If we have lots of choices, we might feel regret or remorse about the choice that we make.  It’s kind of the opposite of “beggars can’t be choosers”!

The other thing about having too much choice is that is can become overwhelming and you end up making no choice or even the wrong one.  That’s a bit like my boss and his smelly stuff – using a lot is overwhelming to the rest of us.

Load up on guns, bring your friends
It’s fun to lose and to pretend
She’s over bored and self assured
Oh no, I know a dirty word

Hello, hello, hello, how low?
Hello, hello, hello!

With the lights out, it’s less dangerous
Here we are now, entertain us
I feel stupid and contagious
Here we are now, entertain us
A mulatto
An albino
A mosquito
My libido
Yeah, hey, yay

I’m worse at what I do best
And for this gift I feel blessed
Our little group has always been
And always will until the end

Hello, hello, hello, how low?
Hello, hello, hello!

With the lights out, it’s less dangerous
Here we are now, entertain us
I feel stupid and contagious
Here we are now, entertain us
A mulatto
An albino
A mosquito
My libido
Yeah, hey, yay

And I forget just why I taste
Oh yeah, I guess it makes me smile
I found it hard, it’s hard to find
Oh well, whatever, never mind

Hello, hello, hello, how low?
Hello, hello, hello!

With the lights out, it’s less dangerous
Here we are now, entertain us
I feel stupid and contagious
Here we are now, entertain us
A mulatto
An albino
A mosquito
My libido

A denial!
