Holiday Mixed Feels

Hello,

If we were having a coffee this weekend, I guess mine would be more accurately called a café au lait by virtue of me being in France quite a long way up a mountain (and my coffee having milk in it).

I’m on holiday at the moment having come snowboarding for a week.  (Have no fear though, there will be posts on the blog!) It’s been a few years since I’ve been, so I’m still a little worried about how long it’s going to take me to find my snow feet again.

My general “I’d Rather Stay At Home” feeling as before all travelling kicked in only the night before departure this time. I find the act of travelling a hassle rather than it being any dislike of the destinations. Having to get up at 3am didn’t help that, especially when the flight was delayed and diverted.

I was on the 6.55 flight to Chambery. That was pushed back to 8.40 and went to Lyon. Meanwhile, the 8.40 to Chambery left on time and to the correct place.

It’s been a hard week for me in the build up to being here, though.  I am really struggling for motivation at work.  I have no interest whatsoever in doing my job, the job that will still be there long after I’ve left having been told they don’t need me to do it anymore despite the fact that I’m the only person who does it now.

It’s also been hard because I remember the last time I came snowboarding and how things have changed since.  I went with other people and I spoke every night before bed to friends at home, and neither of those things will happen this time.  I know that that doesn’t mean that this time won’t be its own set of opportunities or anything, but it still makes me sad.  I don’t want to say too much, because that will be the subject of a post next week.

I must say that the last week has been tiring.  I’m not sure if it’s just the lack of motivation, but I’ve been staying up late most nights and that doesn’t help when I actually do need to get up in the morning!

I took the day off on Wednesday to get things I was short of for the holiday.  Last time I was snowboarding I face planted the snow and cracked my goggles that were on my face and my sunglasses that were in my pocket.  I got another pair of goggles but other things that I went shopping for, even things like thermal layers, began to feel like an extravagant expense.  It’s the first time since getting the news about my job that that thought of thing about money has come to mind.  (The holiday, by the way, was booked long before my news!)

I’m trying to think about exciting things that happened this week!  It hasn’t been a bad week but was staggeringly normal!  I went to Liverpool v Chelsea on Tuesday night.  Was a 1-1 draw but a decent game and a much improved performance from Liverpool.

OK, let’s not drag this coffee out!  I’ll speak to you next week.  Have a good one.

Play that song
The one that makes me go all night long
The one that makes me think of you
That’s all you gotta do

Hey Mister DJ when you gonna spin it
My baby’s favorite record
She been waiting for a minute
She invited all her friends
And I’m buying all the rounds
And they’re all dolled up
DJ please don’t let me down

When you gonna play that song, now
When you gonna earn that pay
When you gonna play that song
And make my day
She said

Play that song
The one that makes me go all night long
The one that makes me think of you
That’s all you gotta do
Hey

Play that song
The one that makes me stay out til dawn
The one that makes me go ooh
That’s all you gotta do

Hey Mister Guitar
When you gonna strum it
My girl just heard this song
And you should play it cause she loves it
Can you get me off the hook
Get them fingers picking now
I’ll throw some money in your cup
Mister please don’t let me down

When you gonna play that song, now
Why you gotta hesitate
When you gonna play that song
And make my day
She said

Play that song
The one that makes me go all night long
The one that makes me think of you
That’s all you gotta do
Hey

Play that song
The one that makes me stay out til dawn
The one that makes me go ooh
That’s all you gotta do

Oh, wait till you see my baby
Moo-oo-oove, moo-oo-oove
Moo-oo-oove
Oh, wait till you see my baby
Moo-oo-oove, moo-oo-oove
Moo-oo-oove
Oh, come on now

Play that song
The one that makes her go all night long
The one that makes her think of me
That’s all you gotta do
Hey

Hope the holiday works out well, annoying about the flights, I remember having a similarly frustrating experience. My sister took her son to his first ever match on Tuesday too, the same one you were at!

    • Ah, I hope he enjoyed it. One of the few decent ones we’ve played recently!
