The Coffee With The Massive Cornflake

Hello, if we were having a coffee this week, I’d definitely have enough.

I got some supplies in.  They’re not actually all for me, but I had a discount code so decided to make the most of it.

Monday this week I was still recovering from my trip to Kiev.  I have one more post to write about that which will cover some stuff in more detail, but suffice to say that it was tiring.

I’d booked Tuesday off work, partly because of Kiev and partly because I wanted some time to myself to think about work.  The week before last had annoyed me.  Even though I booked Tuesday off, I agreed to join a meeting, and that also annoyed me.  When I’m meeting people I don’t really know, I like to try to work out who the expert is.  On this occasion, it was very much me who was the expert.  Unfortunately I was the only one on the call who isn’t a Director or who has “Global” in the job title.  (I might have “global” actually, come to think of it.  It’s just that I’m not entirely sure what my title is.)

I was very definitely not listened to.  In fact, they went for the opposite of what I was saying.  I’d already called a meeting with people who are tenuously in the same team as me.  At that latter meeting I’d found out that some other people had spoken to the people from my Tuesday meeting and we were now all on the same page.  This was also irritating, because it again suggested to me that it was job title that mattered more.  I’ve reviewed the Tuesday meeting and I’m still happy with what I did.

This week I saw a duck.

And a squirrel.

And I found a massive cornflake.

I also got caught in some torrential rain that I didn’t believe was coming.  I tried to shelter from it, which I largely did, but I didn’t realise how big that puddle was and I filled my show trying to get over it.

I woke up today with a sore back again.  It’s been a while since it felt like this.  I was walking around but occasionally felt that I had no balance or strength in my legs.  I did some stretching and was actually then so relaxed that I fell asleep mid afternoon and woke up feeling much better.

I think that’s about it this week actually.  Went out last night and had a great dinner at Mackie Major in Manchester.

It’s not my photo, I’m at the other side of the table with salad.  Yes, I chose a salad.  It’s a strange place.  It’s like an old warehouse with food stalls round the outside.  Instead of having a menu, you order from the stall and they bring it to you.  The tables make it like a German Bierkeller, in that they’re mainly benches.  They were packed last night, but hardly anyone was easting which much be a little disappointing to the people trying to sell their food.

This week I caught an Alolan Exeggutor as well as a shiny Omanite and a shiny Kabuto.

Right.  Speak to you next week.
