Wilmslow Half Marathon 2019 – 42 Days To Go

In the words of Jarvis Cocker in Common People, “I don’t know why but I had to start it somewhere, so it started there.”

So, my base fitness is two or three HIIT sessions a week and football once a week.  I also do a lot of incidental walking around work and supermarkets etc.  I’ve just come back from a week “high altitude training” whilst snowboarding, but doing zero running.

I decided that I first of all just needed to get my legs in to running steady state distances, so I ran to the end of the next road and back.

I hadn’t even got half way and I was running in to a cold wind and thinking of giving up.  I really do hate running.  I forced myself to go further than I was planning and got home and felt fine, but I still hadn’t been very far.

But I have started.
